Cupcakes anyone?? Previews!

Just got done with the feet on these large footed longies, featuring cupcake appliques on the toes and suede cupcake applique sole patches on the bottom so your little girl will be safe!  They will soon feature a wool interlock waistband to go along with the wool interlock feet that the applique is sitched to.  These longies are SUPER soft and stretchy and will make any little lady the talk of the town with her soon to be matching accessories!  These footed recycled longies will be in a collaboration with a couple of other very talented WAHM’s on Bella Tesori (www.hyenacart.com/BellaTesori) on December 1, 2008.  Keep this date bookmarked if you’re looking for a wonderful girly outfit for your cloth diapered girl!

Custom footed longies and embroidered soaker

Here’s two out of the five items I’m working on for a gal. One pair of footed recycled wool longies with a needle felted applique on each toe. Then an embroidered recycled wool soaker. These are both a great weight and will be superb for night time cloth diapering! Oh and NO the longies aren’t crooked, I was trying to take pictures with a 1 yo little girl on my hip so I didn’t arrange them as neatly as I could have or should have!

Appliques-R-Us!

Here’s what I’ve been crafting lately! A few hand sketched and hand machine guided appliques for a lovely WAHM I’ve been working with, Rebekah of Stewie’s on The Merchant Ship Congo (link over to the right!). These great T’s were dyed by her and then appliqued by moi! All of these appliques are of my own design, fairly simple perhaps, then hand guided on my regular sewing machine. No embroidery machine involved here! These are definitely more work from sketch to finish, than a standard embroidery is. Not that there’s anything wrong with an embroidery, as you will see at the bottom. I am including this very cute chicken embroidered shirt with the appliqued shirts. My family calls this a Churkey – some of us say it’s a chicken, some of us insist it’s a turkey!

About half way done with a dragon applique!

Needle felted of course! I still need to add his tummy and the detail felting using wool yarn to match —- then of course there’s his flames, cannot forget the flames!!  Here’s a pic of him half way done and what he’ll resemble when he is done!  These are on a wonderfully soft recycled wool longies for a sweet little guy of a gal on one of my sewing boards.

How about some fall themed longies and an adorable fitted diaper??

Then you need to check out this collaboration at Bella Tesori between myself (Fuzzy Britches) and Sam of Tweedlebee and Tweedlebum! I created a pair of recycled wool longies with a fall foliage tree needle felted onto the longies – these longies have a great weight to them and would be fantastic for night time diapering! Sam created an adorable fall squirrel flannel Fattycake fitted with a full hidden layer of bamboo fleece and three layer soaker of cotton fleece, and the inner touching babies tender skin is oh so comfy bamboo velour. If you know anything about Fattycake diapers, you know they are an incredibly well fitting diaper! Between these two items, you’ll have a beautiful set to show off your little one!!

Got the dang (err…cool) shirt done!!

T-rex tie dye

T-rex tie dye

It took some figuring out that the embroidery I wanted to use wasn’t going to work….well, let me rephrase that in saying I’m not confident enough in my embroidery skills to risk ruining a perfectly cool shirt. I had ruined my own t-shirt in figuring this fact out, so I tried a few applique designs instead and had two complete set up’s cut out and ready to be fused down, but I just didn’t care for them. One of them was my son’s t-rex that he drew recently. It just wasn’t working for me, so I reverted to a t-rex he had sketched a short while back (that I had used for a needle felt applique). This one worked – again – so I went forward and stitched him down. Now I just need to get him into the mail!

I also was able to get some minor sewing done on two soakers, and hopefully can get them previewed. I have a bunch of longies to zip up, so I think that will be on tomorrow’s list to-do. Working at night is so hard, I get so tired too quickly!!
